Prayer for the City of Peoria
at First United Methodist Church
The Prophet Jeremiah wrote:
"This is what the Lord Almighty says '. . . seek the peace and prosperity of the city . . . Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." (Jeremiah 29:7)
Over 50 area churches responded to Mayor Ardis' call to participate in 40 Days of Prayer for the city which began New Year's Eve, December 31st and ended February 8th. Faithful were united from many denominations and were led by pastors representing 30 area churches during this period.
Prayers for the City will continue on the third Friday of each month at 6:00 pm at the 700 Main Auditorium of First United Methodist Church. Dates are March 14, April 18, May 16, June 20, July 18, August 15 and September 19. Free parking is available next to the building.
"...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place." II Chronicles 7:14-15
