American Hymns and Spirituals Concert

The Sanctuary Choir and Illinois Central College Chamber Singers will be under the guest direction of Stanley L. Roberts from Mercer University to share in a service featuring American composers of hymns and spirituals. There will be a combination of different instrumentation and everyone will walk away with a beat in their step and a song in their heart.
My Anchor Holds

My Anchor Holds is an acoustic/soul Christian duo made up of Katie and Jacob Eckeberger. Katie is the Director of Worship Arts at Hope UMC, Bloomington, IL. They seek to engage and connect people inside and outside the church to God through music.In addition to the 11:00 am Contemporary Worship Service, this due will combine one of our own, Josh Portscheller, for a coffee house evening of music in the Worship Center at 6:30 pm.
Peoria Area Civic Chorale Youth Chorus

The PACC Youth Chorus will enhance our 11:00 am Traditional Worship Service on the final Sunday before Advent begins. The Youth Chorus, under the direction of Courtney Vercler, was part of the combined choir that presented The Peacemakers in April, 2015.
The Light Has Come - A Service of Lessons & Carols

The Sanctuary Choir, Bells of Praise, and the FUMC Chamber Orchestra will present a celebration of Christ's birth through scripture and song. We are excited that these services will feature a newly commissioned work by Dr. John Orfe with the text written by choir member, Sandy Miller.
Luther College Jazz Orchestra

Last year we were moved by the singing of the Norsemen from Luther College, so this year we had to invite another group from the college. The Luther College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Juan Tony Guzman, will lead us in worship through liturgical jazz music during the two Traditional Worship Services and provide an afternoon concert as they complete their Spring tour. Luther College faculty member and jazz composer, Jon Ailabouni, is also composing new selections specifically for our Worship Services. It is guaranteed to be a toe-tapping Sunday to praise the Lord!
Organist Diane Bish

World renowned artist, Diane Bish, returns to First Church Peoria for the second time. Ms. Bish previously performed during the 1988-89 season for the Peoria Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. As part of the FUMC 2015-16 Music Series, this concert will feature a variety of repertoire and our own Sanctuary Choir will combine for a portion of the concert. The intricate choreography of Ms. Bish's hands and feet will be displayed on the Sanctuary screen. The concert is free and open to the public, however, tickets will be required. Tickets will be available starting April 4, 2016 in the church office or on-line at this link.
