Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished. Oswald Chambers
Prayer is the prerequisite for the people of God to experience the sort of spiritual awakening that enables us to recover our identity, vocation, spiritual vitality, and urgency for our mission. Only through prayer can we experience renewal.
Prayer requests can be submitted in any of the following ways:
Prayer request cards are available outside church office. There is a drop box next to the cards.
The Worship Folder has a tear off prayer request that can be dropped off at the office or put in the collection plate.
Opportunities for prayer at First United Methodist Church include:
Prayer during worship
Stephen Ministers are available on the first Sunday of each month during all worship services to pray with individuals.
The prayer chain is issued each Monday by email or postal mail depending on your preference. Prayer requests will stay on the list for two weeks once submitted. Ongoing prayer requests will stay on the list for 3 months. Requests that are designated as an emergency will be emailed out to the prayer chain upon their receipt anytime during the week. To subscribe to the prayer chain or submit a request, email the receptionist at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Police Prayer Ministry
This ministry covers our local Peoria police officers daily with prayers, cards and letters. It is an opportunity to express support for public service officials and their families, while building Christ-centered relationships with these servants of our community. Prayer warriors are needed to lift up our city and those who watch over it. For more information, contact the church office at 309-673-3641.
