Housing Ministry

The mission of the Housing Ministries Team of First United Methodist Church is to grow disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of Peoria and the world.

A main thrust of our housing ministry is to build a Habitat For Humanity House on the near Northside of Peoria each year. We have completed nine houses to date. We often partner with other organizations to complete the project providing us with a unique opportunity to build Christ-centered relationships with both our co-workers and residents of the neighborhood.
Volunteers are needed to assist in construction and to provide refreshments for the workers. Work typically is done during one or two days of the week over the spring and summer months.

Since 1976, Habitat has built more than 175, 000 houses, providing shelter for nearly 900,000 people worldwide. Now at work in 100 countries, Habitat teams are building a house every 26 minutes.
