Irving Choir Ministry

The Irving Children's Choir is an after school program for Irving Primary School students in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.

The choir was developed through the cooperative efforts of the Peoria Public Schools, Irving Elementary School, Peoria Park District, and First United Methodist Church of Peoria.

Last year (2007) was our 6th year of operation and the choir had 49 choir members. The popularity of the choir continues to build. This year, we had 73 children submit registration forms. The Irving faculty selected the choir members based on academics, conduct, and teamwork.

The choir program is active during the fall and spring semesters of the Irving School calendar lifting up Christ and helping us to build relationships through the gift of music. The choir will typically perform at 10 - 12 events for upwards of 2,500 people. We welcome any opportunities to perform which do not conflict with their education schedule: civic groups, churches, charitable organizations, business celebrations, and community events.

First United Methodist Church of Peoria provides the salaries of the co-directors, snacks, transportation by church bus and rental vans, robes, recreational events such as roller skating, and all the volunteer works.

The Foster Endowment of First United Methodist Church and donations by individual members provide our financial support.

Volunteer Opportunities: provide and/or serve snacks at rehearsals, drive a choir van, chaperone on a choir van, or help coordinate a choir performance.
