Morton Square Soccer Ministry
As part of First United Methodist Church’s outreach ministries, Morton Square Park Soccer takes place on Peoria's near north side close to Irving Primary School. The Morton Square Park Soccer ministry is in its 7th year of operation and was developed through the cooperative efforts of the Peoria Public Schools, Irving Elementary School, Peoria Park District, and First United Methodist Church of Peoria.
In 2006, we had 125 children (boys and girls, ages 7 to 10) registered. In 2007 we expanded the program to include ages 5 through 12 and increased to 240 children. The majority of the youth attend Irving Primary School, but several area schools are represented. Children of FUMC members are also encouraged to join the league.

Tuesday is soccer night at Morton Square Park during the months of June and July. During the soccer games, Morton Square Park becomes a family friendly, prayer-filled environment with the enthusiastic cheering of the families, church members, and neighborhood residents. |
All of the coaches and the workers are volunteers. Officials are provided by the Peoria Park District. First United Methodist Church of Peoria provides soccer shoes, shin guards, team shirts, drinking water, weekly laundry of the team shirts, and snacks at no charge to players or their families.
Financial support is provided in the Community Ministries portion of the First United Methodist Church budget and donations by individual members.
Volunteer Opportunities: provide and/or serve snacks, help coach a team, register your children, or simply come and cheer on Tuesday nights.
