Our vision is to make disciples for Jesus Christ through ministries
of care. The pastoral staff and trained lay caregivers serve
our congregation as a care-providing team. Here are some of the
ways we reach out to one another with the love of Jesus:
Congregational Care
Our vision is to make disciples
for Jesus Christ through ministries of care to those experiencing
illness, alienation, isolation, hospitalization, recovery and
those needing individual, premarital and family counseling.
Our pastoral staff and trained
lay caregivers serve our congregation as a care-providing team.
Here are some of the ways we reach out to one another with the
love of Jesus:
Caring Hearts Ministry
• Specialized training of lay ministers for caring service
•
Hospital visits by pastors and
laity before, during and after hospitalization
•
Visits to shut-ins, retirement
community, and nursing home residents
by lay and pastoral caregiver
Hospitality Ministry
• Ministries of welcome and care
for those who enter our building through greeters, parking hosts,
signs and brochures
Insight Ministry
Our Mission: With the help of the Holy Spirit, the Mission of Insight Ministry of First United Methodist Church, Peoria, Illinois is to lift up Christ through Insight small groups so that the people of our congregation and the community will gain insight and turn to Christ and His resources when dealing with life's problems.
What is Insight?
Christ-centered small groups
providing individuals with an opportunity to gain insight into
building Christian character
Insight Groups are a safe place
to share struggles and find hope and help when searching for answers
to a life problem
Help for people who have loved ones struggling with a problem
It is God’s Word, God’s People and God’s Spirit
working together for growth
Who facilitates the groups?
The groups are facilitated by Lay Ministers from First United Methodist Church trained to listen, pray and help people who desire wholeness in Christ.
We rely upon the presence of God by His Holy Spirit to help us as we get to know one another and study His word together.
Membership Ministry

Assists newcomers to find their
place in worship, growth, and service

Shepherds all members in order
to remain connected and caring for one another
Stephen Ministry
• In depth training for those who would like to serve as Stephen Ministers
• Caregiving support, listening,
comfort by trained Stephen
Ministers for those experiencing
life changing circumstances,
stressors, grief, depression …
Counseling Ministry
• Licensed, professional counselors provide service, free of charge and by appointment
to members and regular attending worshippers.
Neutral Ground, HIV/AIDS Ministry
• A ministry in partnership with the HIV/AIDS Clinic at the University of Illinois College of Medicine.
• A goods pantry and prayer ministry for those suffering with HIV or AIDS.
