Music Ministry
The Music Ministry of First United
Methodist Church is a growing,
vibrant ministry with more than
300 people involved. They minister to the congregation each
week through choral and instumental
praise and worship leadership.
Sanctuary Choir
The
Sanctuary Choir is made up of
persons age 18 and older. This
group leads in worship each Sunday
at the 8:15 and 11:00 a.m. worship
services and presents major programs during
the year at Christmas, Lent, Easter,
and other occasions, and serves
the Lord in opportunities outside
the church. This choir practices on Thursdays from 7-9
p.m. in the Choir Room on the second
floor, behind the Sanctuary. You may read the weekly newsletter here.
Worship Band
The Worship Band leads in worship each Sunday morning at the 10:45 a.m. service in the 700 Main Auditorium. This unique blend of keyboards, drums, strings and voices delivers a fresh and upbeat sound that ushers worshipppers into the presence of God in a contemporary setting. Children’s
Choir School
There are three children’s choirs for children
ages 4 through grade six.
Children learn spiritual
truths as they also learn
musical knowledge. Members of these choirs are encouraged to attend the 8:15 service with their families and at a specific time, are then released for choir school. These choirs sing regularly for the 8:15 worship service and occasionally at the 11:00 service as well. Contact Jill Foster at 698-0759.
The Bells of Praise Handbell Choirs
(Adult)
The Bells of Praise choir provides opportunities for those wishing to ring in a handbell choir. It rings in worship on a regular basis. The Bells of Praise meet each Thursday evening from 6:00 - 6:45 p.m. Contact Phillip Haworth at 673-3641 ext 117.
Sanctuary Brass
The Sanctuary Brass provides music for worship, often accompanying the Sanctuary Choir, and seeks out opportunities for outreach within the community. Contact Adam Schneblin at 263-3574.
Men's Chorus
Under the direction of David Foster, this group meets every other Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in Wesley Hall A. For more information, please contact Phillip Haworth at 673-3641 ext 117.
Youth Choir
For students from grades
7 through 12. Practice
takes place from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday
from September through May in the rehearsal room upstairs
