Birthday Party for Jesus  What is one of the most fun things a child can attend? - A birthday celebration complete with all the trimmings!  This party is extra special as it celebrates the birth of Jesus on a level that children can relate to and experience with joy.  A story about the true meaning of Christmas – that God sent Jesus into our world for us - is shared with the children.  Another highlight is a visit from St. Nicholas.  Children can visit with St. Nicholas and have their pictures taken.  Of course, a party isn’t complete without a birthday cake, but other healthy snack options are served as well.  As a “gift for Jesus”, participants are asked to bring mittens or gloves what will go to needy children and adults.   Families are welcome to invite friends and neighbors to this fun and meaningful event.

Giving Tree   The Giving Tree is a unique opportunity for the First Church family to bless children and adults who would not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas.  On the first Sunday of Advent, Christmas trees in our worship centers are adorned with special ornaments that have a gift request for a child or adult in need.  The congregation has the opportunity to select a gift request ornament.  Gifts are then purchased, wrapped and brought back to the church in time to be delivered for Christmas.

Hunt for Easter (Egg Hunt)  What takes two hours to set up and only five minutes to do? Our Easter Egg Hunt, of course! Hundreds of eggs “hidden” in the park disappear into the baskets of stampeding children every year during our annual Hunt. (Toddlers have their own special area for the Hunt.) Before the stampede, children, friends and families gather together for play, fellowship and praise songs.  After the Hunt, children look for the surprises in each of their eggs and then move to the tables full of goodies. Be sure to join us for the next Hunt!

Family Good Friday Service  Need a meaningful alternative Good Friday service to the traditional Tenebrae service of darkening? This morning service is the one for you and your family! Children experience the Passion through the reading of the Word and participation in worship—all in a way that is directed to their level of understanding. Fellowship and refreshments follow the service. A special book about Easter is given to each child.
